I did a little job hunting in the newspaper here the other day, and found a few interesting things. For example, any job application must be accompanied by a photo. This is not specific to Germany alone, however apparently in Europe if one is unattractive, he or she won't be able to offer as much to the company. And speaking of he or she, many ads in the paper also specify that both males and females are welcome to apply. That's nice of them. Lastly, the ad that made me put the paper down, was for a model (men need not apply for this one), with exact, specific, required measurements included. Down to the centimeter. Jane says that because the ad is for a model, putting the measurements in there isn't too bad, and helps the company eliminate people they don't want right from the get go. I see her point, but I still think that company is lame. Or maybe the whole industry.
We're off to Holland and Belgium today. We'll be back in a couple days with more tales of adventure. Until then, stay warm, and be safe.

I've even heard that some European countries use hand writing analysis to determine personality fit with the company and position.
Strange, indeed.
And just to clarify...I wasn't considering applying for the modeling job - just happened to see it.
